New Aston Martin Lagonda is Big, Brash and Kind of Ugly
In advance of the 2014 Paris Auto Show, Aston Martin has released official photos and details of its new Lagonda super sedan. It's essentially a hyper-luxury people mover that the entirety of the auto community is drooling over. Call me crazy, but I think it's ugly. I know, ugly is a strong word. But if we're being honest, I would say that the front fascia is only slightly more attractive than a Ford Fusion. And that's being generous. RELATED: See Photos of the 2013 Aston Martin Rapide S
Inside, it's more of the same ugliness. The diamond pattern cut into the leather seats looks unrefined and cheap close-up. The butterscotch coloration in the press photos leaves me cold. But to be fair, this is bound to be a bespoke vehicle with high levels of customization, so not all will look this tasteless.
Others are praising the Lagonda for its sexiness, but I think the Emperor is wearing no clothes. Just because it's an Aston Martin, doesn't make it good looking. The steering wheel is a hideous two-tone creation that looks like it belongs in a RAV4. The rear fascia is reminiscent of a slightly squashed Hyundai Genesis tail end. It just doesn't do it for me.

The good news about this automotive homeliness? This brash machine is only going to be available for Middle Eastern buyers. Meaning we never have to see it.
Of course, I'm welcoming all your angry comments and emails – but this just doesn't strike me as a $300,000 car. Thankfully, there's a 550-horsepower V12 under the hood, so it doesn't have to stay in your sight for too long.
