Top Gear Pits V8 Supercar Against Plane and Tractor [w/video]
That headline should surprise absolutely no one since it starts with the words 'Top Gear' and we all know they like to do things a bit out of the norm. In this case, it's pitting a V8 supercar against a plane and then a tractor. You can just imagine them all, sitting around and staring out the window, trying to figure out what to do at Top Gear Festival Sydney. That'd be the moment a tractor ambled by, a plane flew overhead, and an idea was born. RELATED: See More Photos of the 2015 WRX STI Race Car
Behind the wheel of the V8 supercar is Australian V8 Supercars champion Jamie Whincup who handles his car masterfully, but up against a plane you can pretty much guess how this one turns out. Although, what actually happened during the race confuses everyone, including Jeremy Clarkson and James May as they try to follow the action and completely fail.
The second race is against a decidedly slower vehicle with a 14-ton Komatsu Front-end loader that's got May behind the wheel. They give Captain Slow a fighting chance by having him only drive 600 meters (1,970 feet) while the supercar has to do one full lap around the track. This one really could go either way.
