"Cosmic Motors" Book Will Be a Movie If Michael Bay Has His Way
You think of Michael Bay and you think of explosions. Actually, you think of lots and lots of explosions with very little plot, and then more explosions. Now Bay is looking at making a possibly less explosion-filled film by turning Daniel Simon's 2007 book Cosmic Motors into a movie. PHOTOS: See More of the 2014 Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 W05
According to a report in Variety, Bay and Warner Bros. are currently developing the project and have signed Kyle Ward to write the screenplay. Ward most recently worked on Underworld V.
The book features concept art for futuristic vehicles that is simply stunning. The cars are the kinds of designs you could stare at all day wishing they were somehow based in reality so you'd have a chance to drive one. If you're wondering how an art book could be the basis for a film, Simon also created a backstory for his book.

The book highlights the creations of the imaginary Cosmic Motors, a vehicle manufacturer in the center of the Galaxion galaxy. This futuristic company creates some of the most amazing vehicles in the galaxy, even turning retired war machinery into competition worthy vehicles. Competitive vehicles? Now the possibilities for a movie make sense.
Simon had a wealth of inspiration for his vehicles, having worked on their creation in films like Tron: Legacy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He's even got real world cred with the Lotus C-01 (pictured here).
