Watch this VW Golf Slay a Gallardo and More [Video]
It's almost like the tale of David vs. Goliath. A Volkswagen Golf is proving to be a drag strip world beater against the likes of a BMW M6, Lamborghini Gallardo and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. RELATED: See Photos of the 2015 VW Golf R
Of course, this is no ordinary VW. Tuned by Boba Motoring in Germany, it is a VW Golf R36 with just a tad bit of boost under the hood. Make that 1,150 horsepower coming from its 2.0-liter, 16-valve turbo engine that is supposedly street legal. The interior is stock, too.
According to SpeedSociety.com, "The little beast makes 58psi on a GTX42 turbo from Extreme Tuners and fed by E85 fuel and complimented by CNC head porting from NG-Motorsports."

That turbo, which can run north of $3000, has been used in the CART FEDEX ChampCar Series, 24 Hours of Le Mans, Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, World Rally Championship, and drag racing. Unsuspecting sports cars owners, like the poor schmucks in the videos, don't know what hit them.
According to times posted on the video, the Boba Golf R does the quarter mile in 12.39 seconds. Its top speed is 172 mph. The driver also shows quick reaction times.
