Chevrolet Niva 4x4 Barrels into Moscow Auto Show
The Lada Niva lives on! Long live the Lada Niva! While it may not wear a Lada badge as pictured here, the Chevrolet Niva concept is making its way into the Moscow Auto Show as a joint project between Chevrolet and AvtoVaz. With the current generation of Lada Niva needing some serious updates, Chevy and AvtoVaz thought it would be a smart idea to give the outdated off-roader a major makeover. The new concept gets a handsome exterior, including an all-black color scheme, 16-inch off-road tires, a winch, a snorkel, and everything you would expect on any good 4x4. Under the hood sits a 1.8-liter, 135-horsepower Peugeot-sourced 4-cylinder engine. And that’s paired to a good ole’ five-speed manual gearbox. When the Niva does transform from concept into production, though, there will be a few different variants including a front-wheel drive version and an automatic. It’s expected to leave behind many of the concept cues you see here.
No word on when the Niva will be hitting the production line, but when it does, you can expect to see it wearing both Chevy and Lada badges. Too bad it won’t be coming to America ...
