2015 Chevy Corvette Valet Mode Takes The Joy Out Of Joy Rides [w/Video]
It’s hard to hand over your cars keys to a valet, but handing over the keys to your precious 2015 Chevy Corvette will be a little easier thanks to its new Valet Mode. This new feature will capture everything that happens while your car is not in your possession. It works in conjunction with the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) to both record data and lock out access to key features. PHOTOS: See More of the 2015 Chevy Corvette Z06
Once Valet Mode is activated with a four-digit code, the interior storage will be locked, the infotainment system will be disabled and a recording of audio, video and vehicle data will start. Sure, a wayward Ferris Bueller could still take off and have some fun, but you’d have all sorts of evidence of their adventures once they return your keys.

Corvette product manager Harlan Charles said, “Think of it as a baby monitor for your car. Anyone who has felt apprehension about handing over their keys will appreciate the peace of mind of knowing exactly what happened when their baby was out of sight.”
The PDR is designed to help those who want to get the most out of driving their Corvette on the track, recording 720p HD video on a windshield-mounted camera, interior audio through a cabin microphone, and telemetry using GPS. It’s all stored on an SD card in the glovebox and you can watch the results of your drive on the console screen.
Now, you can also watch the results of your valet’s epic adventure, which hopefully didn’t leave any permanent scars on your precious.
