Polaris Slingshot: America's Three-Wheeled Track Toy [w/Video]
Other track toys better watch their backs, Polaris is here to play, and they’re packing some heat. The all-new Slingshot is the latest in track toy greatness, brining the joy of three wheels and a manual gearbox to the road, and track. Like the Campagna T-Rex, KTM X-Bow, and many other competitors, the Slingshot has an open top and room enough for two. Under the hood is a GM-sourced 2.4-liter EcoTec engine that puts down an impressive 173 horsepower to the rear
wheels wheel, from the aforementioned six-speed manual gearbox.

Weighing in at only 1,700 lbs, the new Slingshot is more than light enough to put down an impressive 60 mph run. Polaris hasn’t given us those stats just yet, but we wouldn’t doubt if it’s somewhere near three seconds flat. That is, if the rear wheel can handle all that power.
Other equipment includes waterproof seats, LED taillights, a 4.3-inch LCD screen with Bluetooth, a six-speaker sound system, USB compatibly, and even a backup camera. It’s everything you’d expect in a street-legal car, except with a helmet.

For a base model, you’ll be dishing out $19,999, but opt for the SL option and it goes up a bit to $23,999. For that price, it better drive as impressive at it looks.
