Very First Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Goes to Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas
The car world has been buzzing ever since Chrysler released the shocking figures of its upcoming Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. In case you haven't heard, the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 makes 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful production muscle car ever. Oh, and it will do the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds at 126 miles per hour, as verified by the NHRA. Those kind of numbers make a car very easy to want, and those who can't wait to get their hands on one will have a chance to snag the very first car, chassis #0001, at Barrett-Jackson's Las Vegas sale in September. The auction house has waved all bidding and consignment fees, and Dodge has announced that all proceeds will go to Opportunity Village, a non-profit that helps people with intellectual disabilities and their families in Southern Nevada. The car itself is a relatively unique one. In addition to its enviable serial number, it has been hand painted in a Viper-exclusive color, Stryker Red, over a Laguna Black leather interior. It is the only Hellcat that will be finished in this color, and it will also come with a HEMI box of goodies including a build book, video documentary, embossed leather iPad sleeve and "birth certificate" for VIN0001, whatever that means.
It is also adorned with special Hellcat badging, and few would deny that it's one of the most awesome badges stuck onto any car on sale today. The really tempting part about this first car, though, is being the first to snag those 707 ponies and then having the ability to brag about it. Of course, that kind of exclusivity comes at a price, especially at auction, and the fact that this will be a charity sale will likely drive the price up further. Don't expect anybody to be paying MSRP for this.
