Like the Smart Fortwo and Forfour? More on the Way
With the veil just recently lifted on the new Smart Fortwo and Forfour, it might be a bit greedy to wonder about what’s next from the Smart HQ. Greedy…perhaps, but not irrelevant. According to a new report from Australia’s Motoring, Daimler’s city-car marque has a few more Smart cars waiting in the wing, predominately a cabriolet and EV version to fill out the lineup.
Daimler AG chairman Dieter Zetsche confirmed both drop-top and EV versions for the Fortwo, but declined to comment on a Forfour EV. While an electric Forfour seems quite possible, the standard car will not be a conventional cabriolet in the sense of a fully removable roof. Rather, the Forfour will fit a retractable fabric roof similar to the Fiat 500.
But if an open top or zero emissions aren’t quite your things, don’t count out Smart just yet. The company has registered the name ‘Fourmore,’ which hints that a stretched version could eventually appear in some of the company’s larger markets.

According to Kai Sieber, Smart’s design director, another Smart roadster may or may not be on the table, as well as an SUV. “I’d love to do another roadster. Whatever we would come up with would need to have a very, very close bond to the family.”
Rounding off the list is a Brabus-tuned Smart, which Sieber confirms is in the works although no production dates have been issued. Expect a bump in power, lower suspension, and of course an aggressive body kit.
