Jaguar Plotting A Lighter F-Type with C-X75 Powertrain
Remember the Jaguar C-X75? Of course you do. It was the prettiest, most amazingly engineered thing to come out of Britain since the Channel Tunnel (or the Concorde!). Unfortunately it never got past the concept stage — but, its F1-inspired hybrid engine might live on under the hood of an F-Type. According to Auto Express, following the Project 7, Jag could build a lighter, more-powerful variant of its F-Type convertible. At least that’s what director of Jaguar’s newly-formed Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division said in the interview: PHOTOS: See More of the 2013 Jaguar-C-X75 Prototype
“The Project 7 is 80 kg (176 lbs.) lighter, but there are smaller engines that start from a lower point. Will the Project 7 be the lightest ever? I’m not sure, but we haven’t invented it yet.”
Whether this means a newer, lighter Jag is coming has yet to be seen. But Jag’s SVO division did promise that two more special edition vehicles will be here by the beginning of next year. Whether this will be one of them— well, we’ll just have to wait and see, won’t we?
