The 7 Coolest American Cars of 2014 (So Far)
Happy 4th of July; while you’re busy on the BBQ, and blowing up things with illegal fireworks, we’re here giving you the seven most badass American cars you can buy right now. From Ford to Hennessey, these seven cars have proved themselves worthy enough to be considered some of the coolest cars of 2014. And even better, they’re all from the good ol’ US of A. What else could you ask for this Independence Day? (click on the links to learn more) 7. Ford Fiesta ST
Ok, maybe 'cool' isn’t the first word that comes to mind in regards to the lowly Fiesta. But think about it— Ford took the standard Fiesta, which is pretty lifeless, slapped on some ST badges, and turned it into the one of the best hot hatches you can buy. And all for around $20K. That, my friends, is how America does it.
6. Icon Thriftmaster
The Icon Thriftmaster is essentially everything that’s good about America. It takes the classic loos of a Chevy truck, mixes it with a modern V8 under the hood, all pushing out 435 horsepower. It’s pricey at $230K, otherwise, we’d be all over it.
5. Local Motor Rally Fighter
The Local Motors Rally Fighter has been around since 2007, believe it or not. But this year, it’s about to gain a bigger fanbase with a special appearance in the latest Transformers 4 flick.
Old or not, it’s still one of the coolest rides you can buy for $100K, and a product of some American ingenuity.
4. Chevrolet Camaro Z/28
7.0-liter V8? Check. 500 horsepower? Check. American icon? Check, check and check. The Chevy Camaro Z/28 checks all the right boxes when it comes to being the near perfect American muscle car. Plus it’s only $75K, which actually isn’t half bad when you think about it.
3. Chevrolet Corvette Z06
The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 takes everything that’s good about the new Corvette Stingray, and makes it a million times better. It’s powerful and insane and jaw-dropping to look at; we’re anxious to get behind the wheel of this 650-horsepower monster.
2. Hennessey Venom GT
1,000-horsepower in a British bodied super coupe. If that isn’t the American way, then I’m not sure what is. This year, Hennessey broke the world speed record…again…hitting 270.49 mph in its custom creation, for America!
1. Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat
Well, what else did you expect us to put at number one? This 707 horsepower Challenger Hellcat is the most powerful muscle ever built from a factory in the history of ever. It comes with an all-new supercharged V8 Hellcat that sends power to the rear wheels from a reworked manual gearbox for endless tire burning goodness. Damn, I love America.
