The Bentley Mulsanne will get a Performance Version
There are some cars that don’t necessitate track-tuned performance variants. The Bentley Mulsanne is probably one of those cars, but judging by what Bentley did with the road-going Continental GT3-R…anything can happen. In a report from the UK’s Autoexpress, Bentley CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer confirmed: “We will see Mulsanne developments at motor shows in 2014.” That isn’t exactly confirmation for a ‘Mulsanne GT3-R’, especially to the extent of the new Continental, but rarely does a car’s developments involve turning down the power. The current Bentley Mulsanne already generates 505-horsepower and a colossal 752 lb-ft of torque from its 6.75-liter V8 engine, but sources expect power to boost up to around 550hp and the 0-60mph time to shrink to under five seconds. That’s impressive, especially considering the car weighs a staggering 5976 pounds.
When the beefed-up Mulsanne does bow – pegged to debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show (October 4-19) – it’s likely that chassis adjustments and weight-saving tweaks will partner a horsepower bump. Stay tuned for developments over the upcoming months before the show.
