Your Ride: 1995 Land Rover Defender D90
There's supercar guys, there's muscle car guys, and of course, there's off-road guys. The off-road guys take pride in their selection of 4x4s that regularly includes Jeeps and classic Land Rovers. One of our readers, Dane, is a member of the latter group. He's a hard core Land Rover enthusiast that spawned from a bit of self-admitted "truck envy." But can you blame him? His 1995 Land Rover Defender 90 is one of the most pristine examples we've seen to date. We'll let Dane give you all the details though:
How did you acquire your ride?
A buddy of mine owned a mint D90, and I was jealous as hell he had one. So I began my quest to find one. Many were on ebay and other sites, but I want to find one with no rust and low miles. After about 6 months, I finally found my new baby in Denver. Bought it only from the pics and the word of the previous D90 owner, wired the money and the truck was shipped to me in the dead of winter.
What drew you to it when you bought it?
Kick-ass truck envy! Actually I found it cool to have a D90 Defender, its not like you see them all the time on the streets. And reading different post on d90source, there are less and less good ones in the roads.

Does it have a name?
What do you feel like when you drive it?
The feeling of driving a truck like this is indescribable, unless you’re a fellow D90’er. When you can climb steep hill, and get out of any mud hole in a snap, you feel the power of it! Sure, its not like driving a new RangeRover, its has its bumps but driving it, etc, but I would not change it for the world.

What you would change about your car, if anything?
When I first received the truck it was in great condition. But because I have obsessive compulsive disorder I had to of course make it "better." Upon my purchase I did many of the "typical" D90 owner superficial modifications… Like….
-Diamond plated sills/quarter panels (powder coated)
-Dual battery setup
-Heated & new leather seats
-Rear bench seat has "modified" installation “backwards”….
Again because of my OCD and because I wanted a very reliable truck, I went on to replaced many, many items, like over 40 (can you say cashcow ;) Understand that 90% of these did NOT have to be done, but I did it because it was fun!
What have you done to make it a bolder ride?
I took a good conditioned truck and made it better. It was not a "time capsule" or “garage queen”. But it was as close you can get to a mechanically "perfect" truck without a frame off restoration.

Dream accessory for it and why?
This is a tough, one, as really I added every accessory my credit card could hold.
