2016 Chevy Camaro Will Get a Turbo Four, 70’s Looks
We usually don’t like to say we told you so, but— we told you so. Falling in line with the Mustang and other comparable sportscars of the segment, the next generation of Camaro will be putting to use a new four-cylinder engine. Sorry, V8 faithful. According to a new report by Automobile Magazine, the new muscle coupe will use a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that will put out over 300 horsepower, which isn't bad at all. Those 300 horses will go along with a lighter, smaller platform, and a weight loss of a few hundred pounds from the current version. PHOTOS: See More of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro 1LE
But don’t write in your hate mail just yet. Obviously, Chevy will keep the V6 and V8 options alive in likely the SS, Z/28 and ZL1 spec Camaros, if not more. And even better for muscle car faithful, it’s going to get even more retro. Likely to use cues from the 70’s era Camaro, the 2016 version will sport an iconic set of lines reminiscent of some of the best Camaros on the planet. Now that’s more like it.
Whether all this is true or not has yet to be seen. Like any rumor, we’ll have to wait until we see the real thing before we jump to conclusion.
