Uber Offers a Chance to Rollout with Optimus Prime
Back in the old days, getting up close and personal with the Transformers meant inching dangerously close to your TV screen or heading to the toy store. But thanks to Uber, fans in three lucky cities have the chance to see Optimus Prime up close, and even hitch a ride in the legendary big rig. To celebrate the release of the upcoming Transformers film, Transformers: Age of Extinction, Uber – the controversial driver-for-hire app – announced a promotion bringing an Optimus Prime-styled truck to pick up Uber users in Dallas, Phoenix and Los Angeles. The truck has already ferried customers around in Dallas, and Uber’s website says the truck will pick-up more users in Phoenix on Thursday and Los Angeles on Saturday. To snag your ride with Optimus, select the “AUTOBOTS” option within the Uber app, set your pickup location, and push the “ROLL OUT” button. You can rollout with Optimus between the hours of 1-7 p.m. at each locale.
Sadly, it’ll have to be a short ride. Each of the lucky commuters are allowed only 15 minutes inside Prime. "Lucky" is an understatement as well. Do the math – thousands of Uber users, one Optimus Prime. We'll cross our fingers for you.
