2015 Ford Mustang Sets the Pace NASCAR Style

Although the 2015 Ford Mustang won't be on sale for several more months, hundreds of thousands of eyes will be on the all-new pony car this weekend. Ford announced that the sixth-generation Mustang will be the official pace car for the Quicken Loans 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race this Sunday, which takes place at Michigan International Speedway (MIS) . The Race Red Mustang GT will get the obligatory NASCAR decals and safety lights, and it will also have a prominent tribute to the Mustang’s 50th anniversary with large decals over the rear wheels. Ford points out that this will be the pace car debut for the 2015 Ford Mustang, but it certainly won’t be the last. With such close proximity to Detroit, MIS races commonly feature pace cars from domestic automakers, and just last year Ford previewed a performance version of the Ford F-150 at a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race. Like this 2015 Ford Mustang pace car, the 2014 Ford F-150 Tremor made its big public debut at the National Guard 200 race last August.
