U.K. Sportscar Company Lotus Appoints New CEO
As of late, Lotus has been a brand searching for direction and guidance. After a recent barrage of new concepts in the last several years, the British automaker backpedalled quite a bit, and then rolled out far more modest prospects on future product. The company is in serious need of future leadership. With that in mind, Lotus has announced a new CEO. Jean-Marc Gales has been named the new chief executive officer of Lotus, and will have his work cut out for him. Gales has had experience with a number of automakers though his career, including his most recent position as the CEO of the European Association of Automotive Suppliers. Gales steps into a role that carries high expectations. In 2013, the Regional Growth Fund gave $13 million to Lotus to help kickstart the British automaker. In that time, they created 313 new full-time jobs, and expanded their reach and influence into the enthusiast community. The final piece appears to be the introduction of Gales, who will have his work cut our for him in expanding the brand and making it stable for the future.
