625-HP Corvette Z06 Convertible Drops Its Top Before NY Auto Show
If there’s one set of alphanumerics we’ve grown to love more than others in the Corvette lineup, it’s "Z06." The hard-top Corvette Z06 Coupe made its debut this past January at the Detroit auto show. Now, Chevrolet is proud to present an unlikely convertible version of the Z06, with the same 625 horsepower under the hood in advance of the New York Auto Show next week. The 2015 Corvette Z06 Convertible redefines the high-powered convertible. Nearly keeping the same lines from its Z06 coupe counterpart, the convertible variant is the first Z06 rag top Chevy has offered since 1963, and the most powerful convertible they’ve ever built. Putting to use the same 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found in the coupe, the convertible gets along with 625 horsepower and loads of engine features like active fuel management, cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing. It all makes for one of the most powerful, and surprisingly most efficient Corvettes on the planet.
As for structure, Chevy promises that the rigidity of the Convertible in comparison to the coupe is even stronger. The aluminum frame is actually 20 percent stiffer than its coupe counterpart, and the whole car carries around nearly the same weight.

All this is paired to a seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Match, or an advanced eight-speed automatic transmission which Chevy says offers “world-class shift-response times.”
The new Z06 convertible will be on display at next week’s New York Auto Show, and should go on sale later in the year.
