Chicago-Based Mercier-Jones Unveils an Everyday Hovercraft
There has yet to be a hover car that the average consumer can go pick up on a Saturday at his or her local dealer. At least not yet. Chicago based Mercier-Jones may try and change all that with their latest creation. The 2015 Mercier-Jones Supercarft is among the first of its kind. Traveling at a relatively high rate of speed, the supercraft can scale over water, ice, sand, dirt — pretty much anything that gets in its way. Top speed sits at a blistering 80 mph, which — for a hovercraft — is the fastest speed around for anyone production hovercraft. Using a 60-horsepower twin-rotor engine and a pair of electric motors, the Supercraft sits seven inches off the ground when in motion, and can travel a range of up to 120 miles.
The body lines are very sharp, and very futuristic. An angled front end is paired to some streamlined side panels and an attractive rear end. But this good looking machine won’t be cheap. You can expect to dish out over $75,000 when the Supercraft becomes available in May.
