Gas Monkey Garage Headed to Pikes Peak in 500-HP Custom Ford Falcon
The boys at Gas Monkey Garage (GMG) are at it again. This time, they have big aspirations for their latest project — a 1963 Ford Falcon. But it’s not just any Falcon, it’s a purebred race car, and Gas Monkey’s head mechanic, Aaron Kaufman, is ready to take it to the infamous Pikes Peak Hill Climb this Summer. Purchased from a friend of the shop, the Falcon was originally owned by longtime racer Jim Hadden. When Jim retired from the Lonestar State to head further south, he left behind his unfinished Falcon. That’s when GMG snatched up the classic and completed the project themselves. Along with wheels and a paint scheme, the team added new tires, new brakes, a new suspension, and a brand new Ford Racing V8 that churns out over 500 horsepower. A race-ready roll cage was already installed, but GMG added a few more racing touches like a lap meter and an LED front light bar.
With the Falcon finished and looking close to perfect, GMG announced on Facebook that they would be taking this one-of-a-kind custom to the Pikes Peak Hill Climb this summer. Aaron and his Ford would be going up against some of the best racers in the world, and we can't wait to see it.
