2015 Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe: Sleek New Profile, 585 Horses
In preparation of next month’s New York Auto Show, Mercedes-Benz has dished out the goods a few weeks early. Just about rounding out the new and improved AMG lineup, the S63 AMG coupe made its web debut packing some power. And not to mention those drop dead gorgeous good looks. Let’s start under the hood, shall we? The 5.5-liter V8 Biturbo delivers 585 horsepower to the rear wheels (or all four) via an AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed transmission. 62 mph (100 km/h) can be managed in only 3.9 seconds, with an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). To handle all this power, engineers fitted the Benz with a sleek new body profile. And the new body isn’t just prettier, it’s lighter.
Weighing in at 143 lbs (65 kilograms) lighter than the previous generation, the S63’s weight loss is partly in thanks to the use of new AMG forged 19-inch light-alloy wheels and a lightweight AMG composite braking system. There is also the use of aluminum on the front end and body panels.

We are very pleased to see that the production version is very close to the S-Class Coupe concept we saw only a few months ago. Price hasn’t been announced just yet, but the new S63 AMG will make its world debut at the New York Auto Show in only a few weeks.
