Yamaha Planning EV-based Sportscar?
Yamaha is back in the business of building cars, at least, somewhat. With famed designer Gordon Murray at the styling helm, the MOTIV.e concept we saw in Tokyo could get a whole lot cooler. According to Autocar, Yamaha is planning a sportscar based on that cute little EV. Of course, a sportier MOTIV.e would need to be stretched, widened and given much more power. But according to Masato Suzuki, Yamaha's general manager of innovation, the current platform shouldn't be all that hard to transform:
"The manufacturing system allows for a longer vehicle, a wider vehicle and many other modifications without significant additional costs," said Suzuki. "The first step is to consider if the reaction is positive enough to put the car into production, but it is my hope and goal that it will be."
