Watch A Racecar Blast Through an Italian Mountainside [video]

It has been many an automotive enthusiast’s dream to tear down a windy back road in a track-only racecar. Very few will ever have the money or resources to road-prep an open wheel racer, but for the rest of us, there is this on-board footage of a Formula-style racecar blasting down a mountain road. This video was from the 36th annual Cividale Castlemont Hillclimb. The driver is Liber Federico, at the helm of the Gloria C8F, an open wheel racer with power from a motorcycle engine. Watch the video and see how he fared (fun starts at 3:00 mark):
Federico actually finished first, ahead of other, more powerful competitors. The Gloria C8F is actually a really neat car. It features all of the basic components of a Formula-style racecar, with front and rear complex a-arm suspension, and track-ready aerodynamics. It can be fitted with the engine from either a Suzuki GSX-R 1000, GSX-R Hayabusa, Kawasaki ZX-10 and ZX-14, Yamaha R1 and more. Regardless of engine, power is sent to the rear wheels through a sequential 6-speed direct shift gearbox. RELATED: See more racing photos This diminutive racer doesn’t come cheap. The 45,000 price may not seem like much, but Europe’s VAT adds a lot to the price, and the base converts to more than $60,000, before taxes and delivery costs. Really though- is there a price for feeling what it’s like to drive a racecar?
