First Photos of Frankfurt-Bound Jaguar C-X17 SUV Concept
Ever since Porsche debuted the Cayenne SUV a decade ago and it became a sales hit, it was only a matter of time before other premium automakers would make the same effort. Recently, Bentley confirmed production of an SUV, confirming this notion, and now we have word that Jaguar is developing an SUV. These are indeed the first leaked shots of the UK-based crossover. The concept, named C-X17, is an entirely new direction for the brand, and is meant to showcase Jaguar’s new "high-advanced, modular aluminum architecture." It will even apparently be given its own brand name. These photos come by way of Jaguar themselves, who have since taken it off their media website (assuming a full release is on its way in the very near future).
Since 2003, Jaguar has used a unique bored and riveted architecture, but this new platform has the potential for multiple uses, and will underpin the next-generation XF, and a smaller performance sedan that slots below the XF.
Many competitors are adopting these aluminum architectures- and it appears to be a must if Audi is using its MLB platform on the new A4, and the next-gen 7 Series appears to be headed to an aluminum architecture as well.
That’s all well and good, but- a Jaguar SUV? We’ll have more when the vehicle is officially announced at Frankfurt. Let us know what you think of the new Jag-UV in the comments below. RELATED: See Photos of the 2013 Jaguar C-X17 Concept
