Chevrolet Corvette Z06 To Debut in Detroit, Make 600HP?
Part of what makes the Chevrolet Corvette an American icon is its affordability. An Average Joe that has saved a little more than $50K can get their mitts on a V8, rear-wheel drive sportscar with few rivals at the same price point. Another great wrinkle to the Corvette is the performance variants. Though the base model is affordable power, upping the ante takes you into a realm that rivals some of the best sportscars in the world. Cars like the Corvette Z06 and ZR1 represent the next levels of performance for the 'Vette, and with the recent debut of the Corvette Stingray, it was only a matter of time before folks start asking about the Z06 and ZR1 variants.
According to WorldCarFans, the Z06 and C7.R racing variant will debut at an upcoming auto show. It is almost a lock that this will occur in the Motor City in January. Word is that the 7.0-liter V8 would carry over, but with updates that would take horsepower to 600hp– up from 505hp. That's only 38 horsepower less than that of the current ZR1, and could easily be capable of 0-60 runs in less than 3.7 seconds.
We are very excited to see the replacement for the Z06, and C6-R, and will be very curious to see how these performance numbers will even further effect a replacement for the ZR1 down the line.
