2014 Chevrolet Corvette Power Confirmed at 460HP

Since its unveiling, there has been all manner of reporting on the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. From speculation to confirmation, a lot of the talk has been about the design and packaging, but what eluded the motoring press were any reports on what makes a Corvette a Corvette; the engine. It has now been confirmed that the next Vette will put out 460 horsepower, but there's a catch. Chevrolet is saying that this is the most potent standard power from a Corvette ever, but they neglected point out in the headline of their press release that such output requires the option performance exhaust system. Without it, the Stingray puts out 455 horses. That may be 25 more ponies than the outgoing model, but really? Does Chevrolet have to do this shady bait-and-switch shit with everything it promotes? Impressively, the 6.2-liter LT1 engine puts out 465 pound feet of toruqe (7 more than the Z06), achieves an incredible 26 miles per gallon highway and hit sixty in less than four seconds. So there is a lot to be pumped about. PHOTOS: See more of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
