Maserati CEO: "Electric Cars are Not the Answer"
We like Maserati, we really do. They've always been the muscular, handsome, Italian cousin to the Ferraris and Lamborghinis of the world. But only recently, have they decided a whole range of new vehicles in the arsenal would further appropriate them as a force to be reckoned with. The other thing we like about Maserati is, as of late; they've been known here and there to be generally- we'll say, 'interactive.' Maserati CEO Harald Wester then, is the reigning king of this newfound outspoken movement.
Sitting down with AutoCar, Wester told the publication, "All this discussion about zero-emissions is nonsense. Nobody talks about the efficiency of how the battery is charged." In yo' face, Tesla. He also went on to say that "Diesel and CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) are the more obvious answers if C02 is the focus." While this interview diminished an ideals of a Maserati EV anytime in the near future, this does further solidify, if anything, the companies talks in partnership with Ferrari of a diesel engine for the Ghibli.
