Ford Fiesta ST Priced at $21,400; Best Bang for your Buck?

Ford's feisty little ST lineup has reached far and wide into its arsenal of hatchbacks. Originally, with the Focus ST (which is fantastic), and this year, the funky and fun-loving Fiesta ST was added to the mix. The lower-level hatch undercuts the Focus with a smaller engine and generally less amenities overall. But now, the Fiesta ST will chop up everyone in the segment with a cheaper price tag. Officially at $21,400, the base Fiesta ST comes with a 197-hp 1.6L EcoBoost engine and an elegant six-speed manual transmission. Compared to the competition, the Fiesta ST stacks up as such:

Ford Fiesta ST Price: $21,400 Engine: 1.6L 4-Cylinder EcoBoost HP: 197

Fiat 500 Abarth Price: $22,000 Engine: 1.4L 4-Cylinder Turbo HP: 160

Mini Cooper S Price: $23,700 Engine: 1.6L 4-Cylinder Turbo HP: 181 Volkswagen GTI Price: $23,700 Engine: 2.0L 4-Cylinder Turbo HP: 200

So not much competition, eh? Exactly. At only $21K the Fiesta is the cheapest, the second quickest (only to the GTI), and arguably the best looking. Spec'd out as pleased, you can even add Recaro's, sexier wheels and a few other bits and still only charge about $27K. And even cheaper still without the addition of the horrid Molten Orange or Green Envy paint scheme which run an extra $595. So then, it seems the only tough decision on your next hot hatch venture would be: Fiesta ST or Focus ST? PHOTOS: See more of the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST
