Your Ride: 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport
We had a Your Ride lined up for today, but then something happened. News of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee broke. That changed things, and we decided to look at the Cherokee owned by our own managing editor, George Kennedy. He has had this Cherokee since his college years, and it has served him well. Through the past winter storm in New England, the Jeep was out and about before many of the plow trucks even took to the streets. Here is what George had to say about his Cherokee. BoldRide: How did you acquire your ride? George: My brother and I had a 1986 Toyota 4Runner in college. One summer, we traded it. What drew you to it when you bought it? It was newer, more reliable. It was a Jeep. 'Nuff said. Does it have a name? The Beast.
What do you feel like when you drive it?
Well, it has mud-terrain tires, so I feel like I'm driving well above the road. It feels right.
What you would change about your car, if anything?
She needs some work. Little things here and there, but once all the maintenance is back in order, I'd love to fit modern tech equipment in as an experiment. Backup camera, bluetooth, satellite radio. I think the next wave in car mods will be cutting edge tech gear in older rides.
What have you done to make it a bolder ride?
3-inch lift. 33" BF Goodrich Mud Terrains. Oh, and a bumper that my brother and I built out of quarter-inch steel.
Dream accessory for it and why?
Ummm, a set of longhorns on the hood. A diesel engine swap. Push-bar with KC lights. It's a Jeep– there's a million different directions you could take it.
