2014 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and ZR1 In the Works

After much fawning over the entry-level model, things are heating up for other variants of the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Proposals for high-performance versions of the 2014 Corvette are being thrown out as we speak. Chevy plans to up the next-gen Z06 to 600hp from 505hp while claiming the ZR1 will have 100hp more on top of that. It the words of the great Ron Burgundy “That escalated quickly… I mean that really got out of hand, fast”. First the base C7 Corvette Stingray was released. Pandaemonium ensued. With in a week, images of the convertible surfaced. And before any owners were able to get their middle-aged mitts on them, Chevy announced the high-performance models, although they won’t be released for another year or two. Only meth dealers and Apple know how to keep their customers coming back for more like that. The Z06 will source its power from a normally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 and the jury is still out on what will propel the ZR1. Chevy is aiming for 700 horsepower, but the debate is whether that will come from a pair of turbos or a supercharger. Chevy says "or", why not "and". We can get with that notion. This is good news for Cadillac then, seeing as how the CTS-V will get a detuned version of this engine. So Cadillac acquires the new Corvette engine and Jeep? Not a bad week… Source: Motor Trend
