Holden Ute SS V is the El Camino That We Won't Get
The recently unveiled Chevy SS finally gives the bow tie brand a respectable rear drive V8 machine for the GM Performance freaks. The SS is based on the Australian Holden Commodore SS V, which is an awesome muscle-sedan in its own right. Upon hearing news of the SS, we actually became more interested in Holden's other offerings. If GM could bring over the Commodore as the SS, then could the massive automaker not rebrand this the Holden Ute SS V as an El Camino? If only it were that simple.
While talks are still on the table about a Holden wagon coming over, under the "Nomad" monicker, GM has stated that we will not get the Ute, which is a real bummer. Could you imagine rolling along the Woodward Dream Cruise in a low-riding, V8 pickup? Look at that front fascia, it's so darn close to the SS, you could envision a bow tie on the front of it! (It's even our color!!!) But alas, for financial and EPA-related reasons, we will not see the a Ute, wearing an "El Camino" nameplate. El sigh. PHOTOS: See more of the Holden Ute SS V
