Damn, I Miss the Summer! The MINI Roadster S, Revisited
It was 17 degrees when your intrepid automotive blogger awoke from his Boston, MA lair. That kind of cold you feel even in the apartment, with the thermostat maxed to 78. Every poorly sealed window becomes a breach in your attempt to stay warm, and forget about going out to the car. At such temperatures my Jeep will refuse to start, in protest to the elements. At times like these, I resolve to work from the comfort of my bed, wearing sweatpants and a hoodie. Oh, what a noble existence.
It is days like today that I truly miss the summer. Oh to hop in a convertible like the 2013 Mini Roadster S that I drove last summer would be to transport one from this frigid reality. Arguably one of the funnest roadsters on the planet, the Mini proves that front wheel drive can be fun. In fact, it rides on such a short wheelbase but with such wide tires, that when hitting a pothole in a turn, the car nearly rotates like a top. Go-kart handling, indeed!
I realize by bringing this up, I am merely torturing myself any others that live in colder climes. For us, it is just a reminder to make the most of the warmer weather. For those of you down south, eat it!
