2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Hits the Web: What Do We Think?
Mercedes-Benz recently revealed a redesigned E-class sedan, set to go on the stand at the Detroit Auto Show. The most obvious change is the merging of the headlights. The quad headlight look has been a recognizable feature on the E-class since ’95. Although the LED configuration hints at the old design, this new direction that Merc is moving in is in an effort to up their game in the German four-door market. Depending on the trim level, the grill 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets either the sportier new look of recent Mercedes models or the old school chrome grill. Around back, the previously busy rear wheel arches have been smoothed out for a cleaner look. It’s actually disgusting how all of them look near identical. I imagine there is a giant claw game somewhere in Germany with parts up for grabs. The chiseled quad-style lights were not only unique but attractive too. This move to be “more competitive” can easily be translated to “We need to dull down our product line. It doesn’t look near enough to the rest the market”. This is good news for Volkswagen, because now their Passat looks like a Mercedes. However, the bad news for the 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-class, because looks like a Volkswagen.
