12 Cars of Christmas: Chevrolet Code 130R Concept
10. Chevrolet Code 130R Concept The beginning of 2012 -as with every year- was marked with the opening of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The biggest auto spectator show in the U.S., and one of the largest and most important in the world. And while yes, it was mostly highlighted by a host of Shelbys, the North American debut of the NSX and of course the Viper (la-di-da), off in the corner, sat one of the most groundbreaking and crucial new concepts to come from Detroit, the Chevrolet Code 130R. Why, though, you ask is this questionably good looking, 4-cylinder, unfinished little sports car so important to big whigs over at Chevy? This, in reality, is the face of the new Camaro. In order for Chevy to continue to compete with the likes of Ford and Chrysler on a more global scale, the introduction of a lightweight, rear-wheel drive, more efficient sports car will provide stiff competition for the 2015 Mustang and Barracuda, and leav Chevy with a more solid footing in Europe. http://youtu.be/XnPmH5DRGJE And while yes, for some muscle car faithful, the introduction of a 4-cylinder Camaro may leave them with more than a few sleepless nights, the Code 130R is the future staple of Chevrolet, and in due time, will become the next great loved Camaro...and that's exciting.
