Lexus LFA Racer is the Stuff of Car Nerds' Dreams

Rumors have surfaced surrounding Toyota and a certain GT-spec racer. If the recognizable bodywork or the massive rear wing wasn’t obvious enough, Lexus is developing a LFA GTE to compete in future Le Mans races. Details on bits you can’t see still are still pure speculation. If you’ve been following the LFA’s on track excursions, this news makes perfect sense. This motorsport dedicated LFA comes in the wake of recent success from a stock Lexus LFA used in the Nurburgring 24 hours, where it came first in its class. For the people who follow GT racing, the next several years could be earth-shatteringly epic. For reasons only people with FIA business cards understand, there are rule changes and race class mergers set for as early as 2015. So, unique and spine-tingling races are being concocted in GT classes in the next few years. Joining the LFA racer, SRT has been developing their Viper GTS-R; McLaren has their MP4-12C GTE and the yet unseen Corvette C7.R will get into the ring as well. A “Clash of the Titans” is the only cliché that comes to mind. The LFA has yet to prove its self. What better company than the Pantheon of V8s and V10s. Scintillating racing is on its way, people, and we cannot wait. PHOTOS: See more of the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition
