VWVortex Creates 500-Horsepower Volkswagen Beetle
If there is one authority on everything Volkswagen above all others, VWVortex would be it. While we try to cover all the enthusiast world has to offer, VWVortex cares about one thing: "Das Auto." The culmination of the extensive forum dedicated to the German automaker is the blue baby you see before you: The 2013 VWVortex Super Beetle. It's just you're average bug…tuned out to 500 horsepower. Oh, do we have your attention? PHOTOS: See More of the Volkswagen Beetle
The car honors the impending 75th anniversary of the Beetle. It's kind of crazy to think that the "Love Bug" has been around for almost three quarters of a century, but this is no hippie machine. The Super Beetle starts with the 2.0-liter TSI inline-4 engine from the Beetle Turbo. Instead of the 200 horsepower made from that model, the custom Bug cranks out 500 horses via an APR Stage IV GTX turbocharger system. The car is lowered, and features the 4Motion all-wheel drive system from the Golf R. This thing sounds like a whole lotta fun.
The whole package wrapped in Matte Blue Metallic vinyl, and is capped off with silver 19-inch BBS Super RS wheels. These wheels are a favorite with VW enthusiasts going for the "German Look." No- it will never be a production model, but hopefully someone over at VWVortex gets to play with this bad bug on a daily basis.
