2013 Audi R8 Receives A Host of Refinements
Believe it or not, it's been seven years since the original R8 hit the market. Through the years, Audi has kept up with minor refreshments; a topless version, a V10, a GT. So far, so good. Lately this everyday supercar has begun to fall off the radar. With new Lamborghini's and Ferrari's gracing the automotive world, some tend to forget about how good the R8 really is, so Audi thought we needed a reminder. The next-gen Audi R8 comes with a subtle new look for 2013. On the exterior the most noticeable changes coming in the redesigned smooth LED headlights and taillights now present on all Audi models. Other exterior changes coming in the form of the front bumper, grille, rear diffuser and exhaust tips.
Under the hood is where things are even more new. The former 6-speed R-tronic transmission has now been replaced with a 7-speed S-tronic transmission. With an extra gear and one higher letter, Audi now says the 2013 R8's top range "plus" is good for 550-hp and faster to 60 mph by three-tenths of a second.
The 2013 R8 will begin to go on sale the first quarter of next year and will even feature the e-Tron (all electric) guise in American showrooms.
