Unveiled: Goodwood hosts the Toyota Twin-charged GT86
As usual, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is going to be showcasing some of the coolest cars from around the world. The latest release coming out of Toyota and tuner, Gazoo Racing, with their turbocharged AND supercharged (in the same engine) GRMN Sports FR Concept. Is this the Hachi-Roku we've all be hoping for?
The FR Concept is based off the standard Toyota GT86/Scion FR-S. It comes with the standard 2.0L boxer engine, but thanks to adding both a supercharger and turbo (called twincharging), Gazoo managed to squeeze 315 hp, way more than the standard 200. They also dropped in a modified six-speed manual gearbox, some bigger brakes, 18-inch wheels and a unique racing body kit.
This concept will add to Toyota's already impressive hill climb lineup, including a GT8 by TRD, a GMRN supercharged Scion iQ and a standard Lexus LF-A. The Goodwood Festival of Speed begins today and lasts until July 1st.
Stay tuned throughout the weekend for more Goodwood goodies!
