The Rocketman: A MINI From the Future
Just when we thought the MINI Rocketman project was dead in the water shortly after its original unveiling at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, it looks like it could live on. Just today they revealed an updated version of the concept in honor of the 2012 London Olympics.
The updated Rocketman comes with a sweet name and a new Brit inspired paint job that would make the queen herself, Sir Elton John very happy. A glass roof with the Union Jack outlined in white is accented by a solid red border. The body of the car is painted a deep blue with red accents and visible carbon bits on the front fender and side vents.
So after calling off the Rocketman plans in 2011, why didn't MINI take one of their already very British cars and give it the same treatment? Now thanks to some new BMW changes including smaller city cars like the Audi A2 and BMW i3 still in the works, this could be a MINI version of the two. At 30mm shorter than the current Cooper, the Rocketman is the smallest car that MINI currently displays and says that it's a good little car around the city.
