Unveiled: More Details on the Baby AMG Mercedes
It's safe to say that Mercedes knows their way around a hatchback. Never having produced a true hot hatch in the past, we were in shock and awe when their new A-Class was unveiled in Geneva earlier this year. The handsome new A-Class threw a monkey wrench into the luxury small car segment.
While the A-Class is impressive enough as it is, we knew it would be only a matter of time before they handed it over to the mad scientists at AMG. Dubbed the A45 AMG, the 2.0-L engine will come standard with 330 hp on tap mounted to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Like the Golf R, the A45 will run power to all four wheels. So, expect a respectable 0-60mph time of about 5 seconds (competition much?).
Some other techie features will be included, like automatic engine start/stop and a regenerative braking system. The exterior will also receive the AMG treatment with a new front grille, a roof spoiler, a new rear bumper with an integrated rear diffuser, and plenty o' carbon fiber. Expect the A45 AMG to be priced somewhere in the neighborhood of $62K, which is expensive any way you slice it. See more of the 2013 Mercedes-Benz A-Class
