When Test Driving Is Not Enough: Ford Inviting Public to Race ’13 Focus ST
First introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show, the 2013 Ford Focus ST is our kind of hatchback. Why, you ask? Because it has a 250-hp turbocharged inline-4, a 6-speed manual, and it's coming this way… While previous iterations of the Focus ST were denied from US shores, leaving us to look longingly towards Europe, the 2013 model is destined for the US, and Ford wants you to drive it, real soon.
Ford is taking the Focus US on tour- NYC, Washington D.C., Boston, L.A., and San Fran to be exact - and they are letting any old jack-wagon off the street put the ST through its paces.
Each stop on the tour consists of a one-day event with two driving courses. Part one is performance driving training, and part two is a timed autocross event.
As an automotive writer, I get invites to test-drive events all over the country, but I’ve never been invited to an autocross with a brand new hot hatch! So consider me jealous.
If you are interested in checking out the new Focus ST check out drivefocusst.com. Even if the Focus ST isn’t your thing, when else will you be able to race an autocross course with someone else’s car?!
