Future Ride: The Google Self Driving Car
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdgQpa1pUUE In 2010, Google announced its self-driving car project in an effort to make driving safer and more efficient. Many speculated that it was off strategy for the company while others wondered if in fact it was just part of a far-fetched plan to rule the world. But in an age of cars that park themselves, it also could have been thought of as just another tech gimmick. Then, yesterday when Facebook's Chief Technology Officer Bret Taylor shared this video saying "This is going to make a huge impact on the world" after watching it, you can't help but agree with him. We are driving people. We love to drive and live for the raw experience of cars. But Google's car is different. It can impact the world by enabling disabled people to get around safely. The elderly. A drunk driver now in control? Well, maybe not. But still, with over 200,000 miles of tested computerized driving, the future does looks promising according to this video. Although, imagine if this were a Bugatti Veyron. On second thought, the slow-as-all-hell Prius is just fine.
