Land Rover looks to broaden the Range Rover lineup with a new model reportedly called the Sport Coupé. The mid-size SUV borrows the Jaguar F-Pace’s platform and would be more road-biased than the traditional off-roaders from the British brand. These fresh spy shots give us another look at the vehicle, and this time it gets a workout on the Nürburgring.

Land Rover would position the Sport Coupé against highly styled crossovers like the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupé. As with that pair, the new Range Rover would have a sloping roof. You can get a good idea of the rear's shape in these spy shots because the camouflage at the back does a very poor job of hiding the angled glass. Up front, this model has aerodynamic styling, including a narrow grille and raked windshield. We expect luxurious seating for four people inside.

The platform from the F-Pace should make it relatively easy for the two vehicles to share powertrains, which would include a range of four- and six-cylinder engines. A hybrid and even a fully electric version could eventually be in the lineup, too.

We’ll likely continue to see the camouflaged Sport Coupé testing for the next several months because the SUV reportedly won’t debut until late 2017. It’ll probably go on sale for the 2018 model year.
