The EV reportedly makes 402 hp, but it keeps that power restrained in this clip.
The DS E-Tense concept was an attractive electric sports coupe at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, but there was no indication in Switzerland that the EV was anything more than just a static display piece showing off a futuristic design. However, a recent video shows it on the move in Paris. We might eventually get a better look at the journey, too, because a camera crew in a DS3 Cabrio is on the E-Tense’s tail.
The concept allegedly packs an electric motor that produces a total of 402 horsepower (300 kilowatts) and 381 pound-feet (516 newton meters). DS claims the E-Tense can reach 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in a scant 4.5 seconds and has a range of 192 miles (310 km) on the European combined cycle. Rather than showing off those lofty figures, the coupe just cruises through traffic at sedate speeds in this video. The clip’s cool techno beat perfectly fits the EV’s futuristic design, though.
The E-Tense has a striking design, and it looks even more sci-fi-inspired when driving near modern vehicles. Don’t take this outing as a sign that DS might build it because a production version would need significant styling tweaks. The complete lack of rear visibility could pose problems during everyday journeys, and so far only Japan gives a thumbs up to camera-based rearview mirrors. We still intend to keep an eye out for the footage from the DS3, just to see more of the avant-garde concept on the road.
