Eric Hosmer chose the truck over a Camaro.

Chevrolet has awarded 2016 MLB All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Eric Hosmer with a new Colorado Diesel Midnight Edition.

Hosmer had the option of choosing between the truck and a Camaro SS 50th Anniversary Edition Convertible but he chose the latter which features a blacked out grille, a folding tonneau cover, and 17-inch alloy wheels with Goodyear DuraTrac tires.  This particular truck also has a sport bar, side steps, and auxiliary LED lights.

Power is provided by a turbocharged 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine which produces 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.  It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional four-wheel drive system.

According to Chevrolet U.S. vice president Brian Sweeney, "Hosmer’s spectacular on-field performance tonight demonstrates to all baseball fans and especially our kids that hard work, determination and teamwork is what wins, and that is why Chevrolet is proud to present the MVP award."

Chevrolet has been the official vehicle of Major League Baseball since 2005 and the company has helped raise more than $28 million to support youth baseball.  The company says its Chevrolet Youth Baseball program has benefited approximately 5.2 million young people and has the support of more than 1,500 dealers across the country.

As part of Chevrolet's commitment to youth baseball, the company donated a hood from a 50th Anniversary Edition Camaro.  It was signed by players from the 2016 MLB All-Star Game and will soon be auctioned off to support the MLB-MLBPA Youth Development Foundation.
