Lotus is celebrating its 50th anniversary at Hethel by unveiling the Evora 400 Exclusive edition.

Created with the assistance of Facebook and Twitter fans, the limited edition model has a blue exterior with orange and white body stripes. Lotus says this particular combination recalls the famous racing color scheme used in the 1960s.

Besides a somewhat retro paint job, the car has been equipped with black alloy wheels and a high-performance braking system with red brake calipers.

The two-tone styling continues in the interior as drivers will find black leather seats with orange contrast stitching.  The model also has an automatic climate control system, a 2+2 seating arrangement, and an infotainment system with GPS navigation.

Like the standard model, the special edition is powered by a supercharged 3.5-liter V6 engine which produces 400 horsepower and 302 pound-feet of torque.  This enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 miles per hour in 4.1 seconds before hitting a top speed of 186 mph.

Production will be limited to 10 units and Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales expects them to "quickly become very desirable.”  There's no word on pricing or availability but customers better act fast as the car will likely sell out soon.
