Perhaps BMW's prettiest car on sale today, the 4 Series Gran Coupe is getting ready for some mild cosmetic revisions.
After giving the 3 Series Sedan, Touring, and Gran Turismo a subtle facelift, BMW is about to do the same thing to the sexier 4 Series Gran Coupe. A white prototype carrying some makeup on the front and rear fascias was caught on camera a few days ago near the Nurburgring and judging by the exhaust tips it was a 340i model.
If that’s the case, it means the car was powered by a turbocharged inline-six, 3.0-liter engine delivering a meaty 326 horsepower (240 kilowatts) and 332 pound-feet (450 Nm). We remind you the Bavarians launched the 440i this spring to serve as a replacement for the slightly weaker and slower 335i.
As you would imagine, the 4 Series Gran Coupe facelift will continue to have the same engine lineup since it was updated for the 2017MY to match the aforementioned 3 Series-badged models. The Life Cycle Impulse (BMW’s fancy way of saying facelift) for the four-door coupe will have just about the same exterior and interior tweaks as the refreshed 3 Series, so don't hold your breath for something new.
On sale since the summer of 2014, the 4 Series GC still feels quite fresh to us, but as you can see BMW is getting ready to give it a minor nip and tuck. It will likely go on sale next year after being introduced at a major car show, with our money being on the Geneva event set for March.
