The company calls its exclusive shade of dark green AMG Green Hell Magno.

Mercedes-AMG is divulging the first official technical details about the GT R ahead of the track-ready coupe’s debut on June 24, which is just in time for the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The hotter coupe retains a biturbo V8 like the rest of the model range, and it now makes a massive 577 horsepower. In comparison, the 4.0-liter mill produces 503 hp in the GT S and 456 hp in the base GT. The extra muscle lets the GT R rush to 62 miles per hour in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 197.6 mph versus 3.8 seconds and 193 mph respectively from the GT S.

In addition to the bountiful power, drivers can also expect the sharpest handling version of the GT. The company is keeping the exact upgrades a secret for now, but the firm promises chassis improvements and more aggressive aerodynamics, which help the coupe stick to the road. Mercedes-AMG claims it has never before packed so much motorsport-derived technology into a production model.

Buyers can add extra style to their new coupe by ordering the exclusive color called AMG Green Hell Magno. The dark shade of green takes inspiration from the nickname for Nürburgring Nordschleife. The GT R should make drivers feel quite at home on the famous German track.

At home on the road and on the racetrack - The Mercedes-AMG GT R

Never before has Mercedes-AMG equipped a standard production vehicle with such a racing technology as the all new AMG GT R. The front mid V8 biturbo engine with transaxle transmission, producing 430 kW / 585 PS, a substantial modified undercarriage, new aerodynamic and the intelligent light weight construction are the key elements of an ultimate driving experience. On June 24th, the new sports car with a pure race DNA will be presented in Brooklands, UK.

An acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 318 km/h in combination with extraordinary driving dynamics promise extreme fast laps on the racetrack. The exclusive color "AMG green hell magno” is an optical reference to the “Green Hell” the nickname of the legendary north loop of Germany’s Nürburgring and points to a direct lineage to the racetrack.

Mercedes-AMG continues to grow and extends its product portfolio with the new AMG GT R at the upper end.
