Watch as the Formula 1 champion encounters the Beast of the Green Hell in the jungle.
Remember last week when Hamilton said he’ll be going to Hollywood one day? Well, he is getting there. Mercedes-AMG decided the current Formula 1 champion is the most suitable to be at the forefront of another teaser for the upcoming GT R. He’s in the jungle and has an unexpected encounter with the “Beast of the Green Hell.”
Those with a keen memory will remember it’s not actually the first time Hamilton stars in a promo video for Mercedes. Last year, he took the GLE Coupe for a spin to tell the world the BMW X6 fighter looks “sleek” and it “handles very well.”
He’s now promoting an entirely different car, one that feels right at home on the Nürburgring circuit, hence the “Green Hell” references in the teaser campaign. Mercedes-AMG’s take on the “GT R” moniker will break cover on June 24 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s going to be lighter, faster, and more powerful than the GT S and will serve as the range-topping model until the Black Series’ arrival a few years from now.
The high-performance coupe will likely be exhibited as well at the Paris Motor Show in October and is expected to go on sale before the year’s end. It’s not going to be cheap, that’s for sure. You can imagine all the upgrades implemented by Mercedes will command a serious over the GT S which in U.S. begins at $129,900 while at home in Germany starts from €134,351.
