Takes on a Porsche 911 Turbo in Russia.
While we agree the Bentley Bentayga is not designed to be a killer on the dragstrip, we were eager to see how fast it can go from a standstill on the quarter mile run. As we found out during our first drive of the luxury SUV, with 600 horsepower (441 kilowatts) and 664 pound-feet (900 newton meters) of torque pace isn’t an issue, but here’s a video showing how fast the Bentayga really is.
We can’t say we are surprised this video comes from Russia, a land of the never-ending drag races, where it was recorded during the Unlimited 500, a major drag event in the country. There, the British SUV takes on another member of Volkswagen Group’s big family - the Porsche 911 Turbo 991.1, in this case tuned by Gosha Turbo.
Sure, the German rocket is way faster, but we are impressed to see the Bentayga is actually capable of doing the quarter mile sprint in 12.5 seconds, considering the 5,350-pound (2,426 kilograms) SUV is in a stock form here. For the record, the half a mile run takes 19.89 seconds at 141 miles per hour (227 kilometers per hour).
As for the Porsche, it is some two seconds faster than the Bentayga on the quarter mile strip with 132 mph (213 km/h).
And if these results are not adequate for you, then don't forget Bentley is already working on a hotter version of the vehicle that will wear the Speed moniker and offer more than 600 hp (441 kW).
